There is no better way to prep for racing Supercross than actually racing Supercross. It’s a completely different animal than the outdoor nationals, therefore lots of riders make the journey to Europe to compete in the offseason in order to get an upper-hand on their opponents for the start of the AMA season. Former teammates Justin Barcia and Eli Tomac were racing in Genova, Switzerland at the end 2014 when disaster struck for Barcia. He was attempting to make a move on the leader, Christophe Pourcel, when he over-jumped into the back of the Frenchman’s bike. Barcia hit the ground hard, but naturally begin to sit up to attempt to remount his motorcycle. Tomac was already committed to the same section behind the leading duo and consequently landed his rear tire directly onto the helmet of Barcia. Unfortunately, this crash rattled the JGR Yamaha rider’s confidence and he struggled for successful results during the 2015 Supercross season.
